We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today, September 12, 2024, on this case which deals with a post shared to Facebook that includes a cartoon depicting an individual being drugged with the implication of an impending rape.
Upon initial review, Meta left this content up. However, after the Board brought the case to our attention, we determined the content violates our Adult Sexual Exploitation policy, as laid out in the Facebook Community Standards, and removed the content. Meta prohibits “content depicting, advocating for or mocking non-consensual sexual touching” including “content mocking…the concept of non-consensual sexual touching.”
There will be no further updates to this case.
