We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case which deals with an image and caption posted to Facebook that includes a warning about an organized crime group offering false lucrative job opportunities. The content shares a post from the group but adds a caption that provides detailed information on how the exploitation works, based on apparent personal experience.
Upon initial review, Meta removed the content for violating our Human Exploitation policy, as laid out in the Facebook Community Standards. However, after the board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the post.
There will be no further updates to this case.
