We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case which deals with a video posted to Instagram that contains an excerpt of an interview where Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) states that he “likes” Adolf Hitler and denies that 6 million Jewish people died during the Holocaust. The video then cuts to a TV reporter who expresses outrage and condemnation of West’s statements.
Upon initial review, Meta removed this content for violating our Designated Organizations and Individuals policy, as laid out in the Facebook Community Standards and Instagram Community Guidelines. However, after the board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the post.
There will be no further updates to this case.
