We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case, which deals with an image posted to Facebook of Nigerian politician Yusuf Gagdi. The accompanying caption makes a factual claim regarding the politician’s membership in the house of representatives on behalf of the Pankshin, Kanam, and Kanke federal constituency, which is abbreviated to PKK.
Upon initial review, Meta removed this content for violating our Dangerous Organizations and Individuals policy, as laid out in the Facebook Community Standards. However, after the board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the post.
There will be no further updates to this case.
