We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case, which deals with a video posted to Facebook. The video explains the origin of any breast cancer, how to conduct a self-exploration with the recommended frequency, when to reach out to the doctor, and specifies that any advice from the doctor should be followed. The accompanying caption notes that the video provides instructions for how women should undertake a breast self-examination each month to check for breast cancer.
Upon initial review, Meta removed this content for violating our Adult Nudity and Sexual Activity policy, as laid out in the Facebook Community Standards. However, after the board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the post.
There will be no further updates to this case.
