Meta takes a number of steps to help protect the integrity of elections, reduce the spread of misinformation, assess newsworthy content and reduce problematic content.
Supporting Communities in the Face of the Opioid Epidemic
The opioid epidemic, especially the increase in fentanyl use, is impacting families across the US and around the world and has become a major public health issue that requires a whole-of-society approach. From governments to health systems and law enforcement to technology companies, we all need to do our part to tackle this ongoing challenge.
We partner with organizations around the world to help prevent interference, combat misinformation and voter suppression, increase transparency in political advertising and empower people to vote.
We take significant steps to fight the spread of misinformation. This includes removing content that violates our policies, reducing the distribution of content marked false by independent fact-checkers and informing people with additional context.
Our efforts to reduce problematic content in Feed are rooted in our commitments to Responding to People’s Direct Feedback, Incentivizing Publishers to Invest in High-Quality Content, and Fostering a Safer Community.
Artificial intelligence (AI) systems inform the ranking of content for many experiences on Meta’s products, such as viewing Facebook Feed, watching reels on Instagram or browsing Facebook Marketplace.
Our accessibility team provides guidance, training and support so we can build digital products and services across the company with accessibility in mind. They engage the global disability community for input through workshops and programs.
