We welcome the Oversight Board's decision today, May 15, 2025, on this case which deals with a video posted to Facebook depicting "Estado Mayor Central" (EMC), a conglomerate of dissident factions of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). The video contains footage of rebel training, active rebel operations, and a text overlay referencing killings attributed to the group, along with FARC's logo.
Upon initial review, Meta left this content up. However, after the board brought the case to our attention, we determined the content violates our Dangerous Organizations and Individuals policy, as laid out in the Meta Community Standards, and removed the content. Meta removes content that glorifies, supports, represents or positively references dangerous organizations that "proclaim a violent mission or are engaged in violence," which includes sharing propaganda materials produced by designated groups outside of allowable contexts such as neutral discussion or condemning their activities.
There will be no further updates to this case.
