We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case, which deals with two Facebook posts that shared a press release and a caption from the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), a political party advocating for the self-determination of the Oromo people in Ethiopia. The posts stated that the OLF’s head office in Addis Ababa in June 2025 had been officially returned to the party.
Upon initial review, Meta removed this content for violating our Dangerous Organizations and Individuals policy as laid out in the Meta Community Standards. However, after the Board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the posts.
There will be no further updates to this case.
