We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case, which deals with two Facebook posts that reported on a speech given by Kenya Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen concerning protestors. The first post shared a video of Murkomen delivering remarks at a press conference, while the second quoted his call for protestors approaching police stations to be shot.
Upon initial review, Meta removed this content for violating our Violence and Incitement policy as laid out in the Meta Community Standards. However, after the Board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the posts.
There will be no further updates to this case.
