We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case which deals with a video clip posted to Facebook of a news report about an international conference in Somalia. The clip includes a journalist asking questions to people in Somalia, alongside footage of leaders and flags of the armed group al-Shabaab.
Upon initial review, Meta removed this content for violating our Dangerous Organizations and Individuals policy, as laid out in the Meta Community Standards. However, after the board brought the case to our attention, we determined that we had removed the content in error and reinstated the post.
There will be no further updates to this case.
