Comments Calling for Ethnic Cleansing

We welcome the Oversight Board’s decision today on this case, which deals with three Facebook comments that called for the ethnic cleansing of Albanians in Kosovo, including praise of past violence and explicit advocacy for future ethnic violence in the region.
Upon initial review, Meta left this content up. However, after the Board brought the case to our attention, we determined that the content violates our Violence and Incitement policy, as laid out in the Meta Community Standards, and removed the content. Meta removes “language that incites or facilitates violence and credible threats to public or personal safety,” including “threats of violence that could lead to death (or other forms of high-severity violence).”
There will be no further updates to this case.
